The last image is of Lewis Thornton Powell, also known as Lewis Payne and Lewis Paine, a Confederate States Army soldier who attempted to assassinate United States Secretary of State William H. Seward in April 1865. He was later hanged. (Yeah, it’s OK to beat off about that. I did.)

  1. Lewis Powell was hanged as a leading member of the Lincoln conspiracy.

    Hanged with Powell for the conspiracy, on July 7, 1865, were Mary Surratt, David Herold and George Atzerodt

  2. I ask this periodically on Metalbond, hoping someone will eventually answer!

    Years ago I saw a music video with a guy restrained in a device similar to the 6th pictures (the guy in this pic has the hands out of the metal frame).

    If I remember right the guy was on his back, and teased by some women, in some costume if I recall right. I think they painted him with honey or some kind of goo.
    I was just a teenager, so the memories are not good, it must be a music video from around 2000.
