SafetyCub is a Midwestern gay artist and working graphic designer whose NSFW images depict bears, chubs, and daddies. Many of his works are explicitly erotic and explore desire, presence, and power dynamics among bigger men.
I recently met the artist, who often goes by DJ, in person at an event in Western Michigan, and one of his works — the one shown here titled “Yes Sir” — immediately caught my eye. I was excited by the chain and padlock, of course, and I wanted to learn more about the man who drew the image. In a subsequent email, Safety Cub described his creative process. He uses various techniques and tools, and he does not use generative AI in any of his work.
