I’ve never actually been to one, but I’ve looked into a few. While each one is different, generally speaking, they seem to be more “puzzle solving” based than bondage. Though many have either a monster or victim chained up in the room with you that you must either release or avoid. But generally speaking, I don’t believe the participants themselves get chained up.
Many of the “extreme” haunted houses, like Blackout, McKinley Manor, or The Victim Experience in Vegas, are one on one haunts where often the participant can be tied up and put through intensive psychological torture (waterboarding, put in a box with spiders, spit upon, etc.).
