Update on the New York Bondage Club

Sadly, it appears that the New York Bondage Club is gone. They shut down at the beginning of the pandemic, and that apparently was it. The club’s website has been down for some time now, and emails and IMs I have sent to the guys who used to run the club have gone unanswered.

New York Bondage Club

This makes me very sad, because in my view bondage clubs — where you can play in a safe space with other people present, or just watch — are a great place to learn and explore, especially for newbies in the scene.

New York Bondage Club

I had so many great times at the New York Bondage Club over the years. When I moved to NYC in 1992 it was the very first place I went! And my very first time there, I met and got tied up by none other than Bob Wingate and James Bond themselves, of Bound & Gagged magazine! I became a regular there, going almost every Friday night for years on end, starting at J’s Hangout, then various places in Chelsea including most recently Paddles.

Here on the Metalbond site, I will leave the many postings about the New York Bondage Club up, but I am removing the links to their website that no longer exists.

Meanwhile, for those of you who live in other cities that still have bondage clubs, I encourage you to patronize them!

The Southern California Bondage Club in North Hollywood is active!

  1. Many great times at NYBC when I lived in the Village and downtown from 1998-2002. Fridays at J’s would start by welcoming new guys and asking what they wanted to explore, and that really drew me in. Wild scenes in that cave.. lots of us are still playing.

    1. Hey Animal. I am looking for a place to play. You say “lots of us are still playing”. Where exactly is that and can I attend?

  2. Wow. That is too bad. Even if I go to the primary nameserver I get “server can’t find nybondageclub.com: SERVFAIL”. The domain is still registered and valid through Jan 1, 2024, so we can only hope that it gets revived.

  3. sad news! i am visiting the city for the first time in march, and was looking forward to checking it out. been wanting to get there for 20-25 years.
    is paddles also closed?

  4. Unfortunately, safe spaces for Gay Kink are closing all over – The Backstreet in London closed last year – a safe space for the Leather and Rubber Communities with a relaxed, open atmosphere, where Bondage; Flogging; Role Play etc. were allowed.

  5. Metal, you are so right about places to meet in-person. Even before covid, these spaces were under pressure. I remember traveling to NY in the 90s and happening on Bondage Club shenanigans at The Lure (I think it was this group). Tons of fun and nice people.

  6. This is extremely sad news. Like GMSMA before it, with its regular meetings, events, and dungeon demos, the loss of NYBC leaves a huge hole in the NYC BDSM community.

  7. are there any similar NYC places or events? or any BDSM dungeons in the city? I’m new to the area and have been waiting for NYBC to come back. so, I’m bummed to hear the news.

    1. Dear WT,
      Sadly I am not aware of any other similar events to the NY Bondage Club here in NYC. I hope you are able to explore your interests nevertheless, and that you play safe!

  8. Newbie, but older & fit. When I got fit ,
    BDSM fantasies from decades ago , not kiss
    hug desire. I was late to sex, leather bar ‘by
    accident’ go home with Sir taught me boot
    fetish & to worship leather : only then I get to suck balls & cock. 2 Masters. Never got over it. AIDS spooked me out. Partnered, seek no change, but sexless, sleep separate for years, No sex at all, no JO. He don’t know I need kink.
    When fitness, libido roar back for kink.
    Now like to explore restraints; rope; gag.
    Fantasy watch a man piss, maybe drink from tap.
    I’m a ‘suit’ & need to be controlled.
    Discipline rougher than spanking perhaps flog.
    * No rimming;
    * no bareback fucking;
    * No blood, welts, or scat.

  9. Hey there Guys. I also was taken to the Paddles Club by my cousin several years ago and they had different training stations set up and I took a Ropes class with Brian and ended up tied and blindfolded to s spider web and then jacked off and edged with like 50+ people watching till I busted a huge nut.

    Paddles did shut d ok en durring the pandemic however I actually did some painting, remodeling and overall cleanup..and installed new upgraded fixtures sink and cabinets etc in the bathroom and they did reopen durring the time everyone had to show proof of being vaccinated to get in and they were hosting groups and events on Thurs Fri Sat and Sun. They were drawing in 50 to 150 people every night. They were reopened for at least I’d say 8+ months then they had some issues with the property owner in regards to a septic tank pump issue and overflow that was not getting fixed forcing some nights closed then two of the outside hosted events that were always held there on Wed and Fridays the host moved his partys to Queens to a new venue location referred to as The Playground I believe but in my opinion was not a great new location but that change resulted in Paddles losing at least 2 to 3 nights of revenue a week and soon after they said that
    they were closing Temporarily and they have not reopened since I also have tried to reach out to the club management both Mike’s trying to het a confirmation either way an. M also expressed my interest in cleaning up and reorganizing and promoting it as a New Club and renting or subletting

  10. I would love to find someone else interested in renting this space out if it’s a available and the price is fair and promoting the space to a new generation. And keep it as a great underground play space . And do a major cleanup and overhaul of the space and equipment. If anyone would be interested pkease email me and let’s discuss possibilities of bringin Paddles and the Encore afterparty etc….
