Does anybody remember the Mineshaft? That was before my own time, but I did know its manager, Wally Wallace — who was a fixture of NYC’s gay leather scene for decades. According to legend, Wally once denied entry to the Mineshaft to Elton John, because the pop star showed up in violation of the above-mentioned dress code.
As for me, the closest I ever got to the Mineshaft was seeing the 2012 Off Off Broadway play “A Night at the Mineshaft.”

Sadly his blog is long gone, but damn it was hot with great pictures and great first-person accounts from his prisoners.

Those who were around in the mid 90s might remember the Men of Discipline. Here are some pictures I stole off their website a long time ago:
If I remember correctly, they had chapters in NYC, Washington DC and San Francisco. I used to secretly watch two of their founding members, Julio and Tom, walking up and down the Christopher Street piers on Sunday afternoons.
